Rose Embossed Card

Hello!  Welcome!

I'm so excited to share this lovely embossed card I made that you, too, can make!

Making and sending cards is a wonderful way to celebrate relationships in this fast paced world.  Let's get started!

Bashful is the new Close to My Heart Color of the Year!  Bashful has a beautiful soft pink hue and will only be available for a limited time.

As you can see in my color swatch, one side of the cardstock features a lighter tone than the other.  This is great for more color flexibility and coordination of other colors in the color palette.

This 5" x 7 " Rose Embossing Folder is not only beautiful, but, oh so simple to use!  I "sandwiched" White Daisy cardstock in the embossing folder, and ran it through my Big Kick.

If you have not used an embossing folder, I would like to share a little tip with you.  When you are using papers with a white core, which all Close to My Heart cardstock colors have, be sure to follow the grain of the paper.  If you emboss against the grain, you are more likely to crack the paper, allowing the white core to show through or even ripping the paper.

Now, of course, if your intention is a distressed, shabby chic look, go right ahead!  However, if you want smoother embossing with little to no white core peeking through, emboss with the grain. So easy!

Not sure about the grain?  Well, no worries!  This is quite easy to do.  Just balance the paper on your fingers and observe how your paper naturally curves. The grain runs perpendicular to the arch.  If needed, mark the direction of the grain on your paper. Then, cut to the size you need, taking note of which way the grain runs.  Place your cut piece of paper inside the embossing folder, with the grain running vertically (toward the fold).  Place the folder between the plates, and run through the embossing/die cut machine.  Woo Hoo!  So easy!

After embossing, I wanted to add even more dimension, so I lightly "swiped" my Bashful Exclusive Ink across the raised rose pattern.  So pretty!

I built the front of my card using a white base, Bashful Cardstock, embossed White Daisy cardstock, a strip of Bashful and Bitty Sparkles.  I used both the Tombow adhesive runner and Foam tape.

For the inside sentiment, I cut 3 bases, Bashful, both sides, and White Daisy using my Artistry Cricut Cartridge.  This cartridge features a wonderful collection of staples for any crafter -- banners, layered shapes, borders, backgrounds, etc., three stamp sets and the Enchantment cardstock combo pack.

I stamped the "Love" sentiment with Black Archival Ink.  This stamp is included in the Artistry Cricut Collection.  You can see the two sides of the Bashful cardstock here.  I really like this new feature!
