September Limited Edition Wrap-up!

Knowing what a fun time we had at my Creating Kindness Card Event making these fun cards, I wanted to give everyone a quick reminder that after September 30, 2016 at 11:59 PM (MT) the Create Kindness products and September Stamp of the Month will be retired.

Although full kits have been sold out, Close To My Heart will offer the 3 x 3 inch card bases, circles and envelopes (in packs of 24), as well as the 8 limited edition corresponding stamps, sold individually.  My website will have which components are still available - so check it out before the clock chimes!
These are so much fun and quite handy to have at the ready!

This Blessed Beyond Measure Stamp of the Month for September is one of my all time favorites!  I've enjoyed using it for cards, tags, and on scrapbook pages.  I know it will continue to be one of my go-to stamps for quite some time!  Remember, when you place an order of $50 on my website, you are eligible to purchase the current Stamp of the Month for only $5.00! Woo-hoo!  Of course, each month, you may purchase the limited time stamp for its full retail value without any additional purchase.

Have a wonderful day!

Tuesday Tip of the Day

 Solvent Inks

September is National Card Making Month and National Stamping Month.  To tie into this, we're reviewing what some of the differences are between inks.   Inks are typically classified as a "pigment" or a "dye" and can also be described as "water-based," "solvent-based," or "alcohol-based."   We have previously covered "pigment" and "dye" inks.

This week, our Tuesday Tip of the Day will cover Solvent-based Ink.

Solvent-based inks are inks that dissolve in a solvent. Solvent-based inks separate from water just like oil does, so these inks are best used for creating an image that you do not want to be ruined by water-coloring.

Examples of Solvent-based inks are StazOn™ Stamp Pads and its Re-inkers as well as the Archival Black Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad.  These are both Dye Inks as well.

Thank you so much for visiting! What types of inks do you use?  I look forward to hearing from you!

OUR STORY

2-Page Layout Tutorial

Papercrafting With Gayle

This "Our Story" layout was inspired by a project we made at the 2016 Close To My Heart Convention.  My hope is that you are able to use the designs featured in this blog as a springboard of inspiration for your papercrafting!

On the first page, I've decided to showcase one larger photo along with a space for a journal entry.  Then, on the opposite side, the layout is designed for 3 additional photos.  However, you could easily have 3 of the 4" x 3" photos across the top and a couple of 4" x 4" photos beneath, by simply rearranging the title on this layout.

Enjoy!

Materials Used

Basic Supplies Used

Tuesday Tip of the Day -- Dye Inks

September is National Card Making Month and National Stamping Month.  To tie into this, we're reviewing what some of the differences are between inks.   Inks are typically classified as a "pigment" or a "dye" and can also be described as "water-based," "solvent-based," or "alcohol-based."   Last week we covered "pigment" inks.  Our Tuesday Tip of the Day will cover Dye Ink.

Dye Ink: Dye inks have a soft look. They absorb directly into the paper, allowing them to blend easily with the material. For example, if you stamp a yellow dye-based ink onto bright blue paper, the stamped image will appear green. Dye inks are popular primarily because they dry quickly and blend easily.

Thank you so much for visiting!  What are your favorite stamp colors?  What types of inks do you use?  I look forward to hearing from you!

Gratitude Card

Today I'd like to share a card I made using the September Stamp of the Month from Close To My Heart.  This is one of my favorite stamp sets!  It is one that can be used for multiple occasions throughout the year.  All of its images are shown below.
papercraftingwithgayle.ctmh.com

Materials Used

Stamps from the September Stamp of the Month "Blessed Beyond Measure" Stamps
As with all Limited Edition "Stamp of the Month" sets, spend $50 and get this month's set for just $5.
Adhesive
Artbooking Cricut Cartridge

This card can also be made without using the Artbooking Cricut Cartridge by simply stamping the images directly to the card base, or onto another piece of cardstock which you would cut by hand and adhere with foam tape to add dimension.  I love how the Shimmer Brush adds just a hint of sparkle!

Thank you for visiting!  I love hearing from you here or via e-mail!

Have a wonderful day!

Welcome!

Wednesday Words of Wisdom

Gayle Piron, Papercrafting With Gayle

This English proverb is so true!
"Peace within makes beauty without."

I made this sweet little page for my "Words of Wisdom" album, using Pansy Cardstock, half of a Create Kindness card base, Peacock Cardstock, White Daisy Cardstock, a piece of Swan Lake for my leaf, along with Sparkles and my Shimmer Brush to add a touch of bling.  For those who would like to replicate, the total page size is 4" x 4" and all materials, other than the quote, are available here.  The leaf is cut using my Cricut and the Artbooking cartridge (page 72).  Enjoy!

Happy Papercrafting!
Have a wonderful day!
I look forward to hearing from you!

Tuesday Tip of the Day

Pigment Ink

Have you ever wondered what some of the differences are in the inks you use for your stamping projects?  We'll take a quick look right now.

This is the beautiful Color of the Year, "Sea Glass."  I love it!

September is National Card Making Month and National Stamping Month.  To tie into this, we'll start with what some of the differences are between inks.   Inks are typically classified as a "pigment" or a "dye" and can also be described as "water-based," "solvent-based," or "alcohol-based."

Our Tuesday Tip of the Day will cover

Pigment Ink.

Pigment Ink: Pigment inks “settle” on the top of paper instead of soaking into it. This allows colors to appear opaque on colored or bright papers.  Simply gorgeous!  Pigment inks take a bit longer to dry than dye inks.

These are some of my Close To My Heart Pigment Inks

To get a solid, true color in your stamped projects, practice on some scrap paper to see how thickly you should apply the pigment ink to your stamp. Remember to always have a foam pad, included with all Close To My Heart stamp sets, under your paper for a clean impression.

Thank you so much for visiting!
I look forward to hearing from you!

Happy Papercrafting!

Warmest regards,
